Bench Pull-Up

A pull-up variation using a bench for foot support to reduce load and assist the movement.

How to do it

  1. Place a bench under a pull-up bar.
  2. Grip the bar with hands wider than shoulder-width.
  3. Position feet on the bench for support.
  4. Pull your chest towards the bar, using feet as needed.
  5. Lower yourself slowly to starting position.

Form cues

  • Keep core engaged
  • Lead with chest
  • Pull elbows down and back
  • Don't let legs push too much

Common mistakes

  • Using too much leg drive
  • Swinging body or kicking feet
  • Chin barely reaching bar
  • Not controlling descent

Breathing

Exhale as you pull up, inhale as you lower down.
