Cable Standing Fly

A cable isolation exercise for the chest, performed standing and moving arms in a hugging motion.

How to do it

  1. Attach handles to both high pulleys.
  2. Stand centered between pulleys, grasp handles in each hand.
  3. Step forward into a staggered stance, arms outstretched.
  4. With elbows slightly bent, bring handles together in front of chest.
  5. Return slowly to starting position, feeling the stretch in the chest.

Form cues

  • Lead with your elbows
  • Slight bend at elbows
  • Keep chest up
  • Don’t let shoulders roll forward

Common mistakes

  • Over-extending arms
  • Letting elbows lock
  • Rounding the back

Breathing

Exhale as you bring hands together, inhale as you return.
