Standing Back Rotation Stretch

A standing twisting stretch targeting the obliques and rotational muscles of the back.

How to do it

  1. Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Extend arms at shoulder height or place hands on hips.
  3. Rotate torso gently to one side without moving hips.
  4. Hold stretch for desired time.
  5. Return to center and repeat on other side.

Form cues

  • Keep hips facing forward
  • Rotate gently
  • Elongate spine
  • Don’t force stretch

Common mistakes

  • Over-rotating
  • Letting hips twist
  • Holding breath

Breathing

Exhale as you twist, inhale as you return to center.
