Standing Reach Up Back Rotation Stretch

A dynamic stretch involving reaching overhead and rotating to open up the chest and upper back.

How to do it

  1. Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Raise both arms overhead.
  3. Gently arch your upper back and chest.
  4. Rotate your torso to one side while maintaining the stretch.
  5. Return to center, then rotate to the other side.

Form cues

  • Keep core engaged
  • Avoid hyperextending lower back
  • Reach up and out
  • Move smoothly

Common mistakes

  • Overarching the lower back
  • Not fully extending arms
  • Twisting too abruptly

Breathing

Inhale before reaching up; exhale as you rotate and stretch.
